Manhood

About a month ago, I shared a quote from Wind, Stars and Sand about what it means to be a man. This month's book is A Man's Responsibility: A Jewish Guide to Being a Son, a Partner in Marriage, a Father and a Community Leader. I'm not Jewish, but we can learn truth from many sources. While reading yesterday, I stumbled upon supporting arguments about the mark of manhood. Rabbi Joseph B. Meszler writes:

I know that to be a Jewish man is ultimately to be responsible, and Jewish tradition can teach me what my responsibilities are (xi).

What can our traditions teach us? To what traditions should we look to for teaching us our responsibilities? What family traditions can we create or perpetuate that will help us and our children become more responsible, and therefore, more like true men?
